Donington Park Motor Racing Photography featuring a few highlights from the Britcar Championship on the 8th May this year. After aquiring a Canon 400mm 2.8 lens for the weekend I was eager to put it to its paces and capture the action up at Donington Park, where a friend was taking part in the action, Fiona James of Panic Racing – www.fionajamesracing.com. There is a selection of racing action and pit lane reportage here. I just love the final image in the series. This was the last shot of the day and I timed this so that the evening sun hit him just at the right moment. He had just escaped a burning vehicle and I imagined the long walk through the tunnel was a time of dark contemplation, anger and frustration at what had just happened. The sunlight which greeted him on the exit was likely to be very comforting, perhaps a warm reminder of how lucky he was to be alive.
